Simple non-toxic cleaner recipe that costs pennies to make

Commercial cleaners work well, but they are expensive and full of chemicals. This natural all-purpose cleaner is just as effective, costs almost nothing, and takes two minutes to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 10-15 drops of essential oil (lemon, tea tree, or lavender)
  • A 500ml spray bottle

Instructions

Fill the spray bottle halfway with vinegar, then add water. Add your chosen essential oils and shake gently to combine. That is it.

How to Use

Spray on countertops, sinks, stovetops, and bathroom surfaces. Let it sit for 30 seconds, then wipe with a microfiber cloth.

What to Avoid

Do not use this cleaner on granite or marble surfaces. Vinegar is acidic and can etch natural stone. Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner instead.

Why It Works

Vinegar is a natural disinfectant that kills most household bacteria. Essential oils add antibacterial properties and leave a fresh scent. This mixture cleans as well as most store-bought cleaners at a fraction of the cost.
